Geopolitical Compass #16
Governments 'fixing' things. NOT German Tanks. Mainstream media corruption. Just another BRICS in the wall. Inept Soros.
Notable events in geopolitics and capital markets this week. Expand your perspective, gain context, and discover actionable insights.
Strap yourself in, a lot has happened this week.
Australia
Yet another example of governments worldwide scrambling to fix the mess they’ve made from poor energy policies (renewables, resource ‘super profit’ taxes, export restrictions) and war mongering (let’s poke Russia and China and see what happens).
Here’s a novel idea; perhaps governments could stop breaking things and destroying free markets in the first place, instead of wreaking havoc then riding in to ‘save everyone’ with increased handouts paid for with ever higher taxes?
You may say I’m a dreamer, but hopefully I’m not the only one…
Bitcoin
One of the most common detractor arguments against Bitcoin is that governments will simply ban it as it threatens their power over the monetary system and control over citizens.
Except as I point out, game theory comes into play. We know not all nations get along, and some will take initiative to attract human and financial capital within their borders, especially in increasingly adversarial times when nations are entering open hostilities and looking to gain independence and advantage from others. Even in peace time nations want to attract the best and brightest.
Will some governments ban Bitcoin? Yes - China, India and others have already banned it multiple times, yet their population continues to adopt and use it in greater numbers. Now factor in whether you think adversaries like Russia, China and Iran will all agree with the US, the UK and EUSSR to ban their citizens from honest money, or if some will break from the pack?
Capital is fungible as Arthur Hayes illustrates below. Nations that impair Bitcoin by treating it adversarially will find as capital allocators become more comfortable with it, a drain of said capital will ensue.
Climate Realities
Fortunately there are many that can see the government climate change agenda for what it is; a money, power, and control racket designed to fleece the global populace in favour of vested interests close to the corridors of power.
The only question is when politicians break their facade and start moving their idiotic targets or when the people say ‘enough’ when told how much they need to sacrifice and pay for the fictitious boogeyman that is climate change.
Corrupt Mainstream Media
It beggars belief that people still watch and listen to mainstream media news these days:
80 percent of Cooper’s $12 million annual salary, roughly $10 million, comes directly from Pfizer, according to RFK. Jr.
“The media in our country is an extension of the pharmaceutical industry,” Kennedy said. “Seventy-five percent of advertising revenues now on the mainstream media are now coming from pharma, and that ratio is even higher for the evening news because the evening news is where you see pharmaceuticals advertised.”
As a reminder, that’s this guy…
Cooper was busy questioning whether people who refused to get the clot shot (now causing massive health problems worldwide) should be prevented from traveling or receiving existing government assistance. Incidentally isn’t it funny how all that covid hysteria has vanished now that everyone has moved onto the new and improved ‘Russia is going to kill us all’ narrative distraction.
The few remaining mainstream media voices willing to stand up for truth like Tucker Carlson are finally being weeded out to ensure an entirely complicit propaganda platform for approved narrative only moving forward. The timing is crucial ahead of the upcoming 2024 election where they need the populace to re-elect* the decaying mental vegetable that is Biden**. (* he wasn’t elected the first time ** ‘Biden’ the nominal corrupt, geriatric frontman who can barely string two sentences together as opposed to those really pulling his strings)
Happily more people are waking up to the reality of mass media every day, though sadly not fast enough:
For those who still believe whatever the news tells them despite the continuing lies and realities being exposed every week….. well I don’t need to worry as they don’t read this newsletter, they’re likely off organising their next clotshot booster.
Dedollarisation
Asian central banks are moving away from the dollar, switching to Iran’s SEPA system ahead of launching the ACU’s own settlement system:
"The secretary general of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) says Iran’s financial messaging system SEPAM will replace SWIFT, a dollar-based international system, in trade exchanges between ACU members beginning next month," Iran's IRNA News Agency reported.
Nothing to see here, just India, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh and five other Asian nations moving away from the US dollar.
The snowball is getting bigger and faster
Egypt
Another month, another country seeking to join BRICS.
Germany
Those who do not learn from history…
…are doomed to repeat it. German tanks burning again in Eastern Europe.
So what do politicians do when facts become inconvenient? Deflect, twist, obfuscate, or in this instance become outright delusional…
Russia
The realities of the current Ukrainian offensive to cut the land bridge to Crimea and the wet dream of the US having a naval base on the peninsula, Dmitry Orlov points out some much needed common sense:
Getting back to the American wet dream of a NATO naval base in Sevastopol, Crimea, from where it would control the entire Black Sea and cut Russia's access to the Mediterranean... the idea that Russia would surrender Crimea if Ukraine succeeded in cutting the "land bridge" is fanciful: Crimea spent eight years within the Russian Federation without that land bridge and four of them without the Kerch Bridge, resupplying the Crimean penninsula using ferries. Nor is depriving Crimea of water from the Dniepr, as the Kiev regime has recently done (again) by blowing up the Kakhovskaya dam, likely to do the trick: Crimea made it through eight years without that water. But apparently that is just too much history to recall for US officials who have trouble remembering past last weekend.
…if the Ukrainians don't at least pretend to counterattack, US/NATO won't continue arming them. But they will stop arming them anyway, because all the weapons are now on back order everywhere.
Sadly this logic won’t stop the US, UK and EUSSR from throwing more Ukrainian bodies at the project in deluded, futile attempts.
Soros
Recently it was announced George Soros (file photo below) will be handing the reigns of his empire over to his son Alexander.
Soros’ Open Society Foundations has been a front for political interference and regime change around the world for decades. Operations range from funding district attorney’s across the US to further societal decline, backing political movements like Black Lives Matter, political persecution (he’s funding the attacks on Trump), to financing regime change attempts (both successful and failures) across the world in Hungary, Turkey, Ukraine, the Arab Spring and countless others…
So with word that’s he finally handing his crown, robe and scepter over to his son Alexander, many including myself likely thought “great, another five decades of financed corruption and regime change operations around the world.”
Fortunately, it looks like Alexander is a moron…
With any luck, he’ll piss most of daddy’s money away into the US Democratic Party over the next ten years at which point the world will be able to breathe a sigh of relief that the Soros interference machine will finally be neutered. But a lot of damage can still be done before that happens.
Syria
You know what might stop US service members getting injured in Syria? Leaving the country you are illegally occupying and stealing oil from.
In early August, the Syrian Oil Ministry said that the US and its mercenaries are stealing an average of 66,000 barrels of oil per day in Syria, about 80 percent of Syria's oil production.
Ukraine
Last week I said this:
Cui bono - who benefits from hundreds of thousands of slavs dying on both sides? Neither Ukraine or Russia. UK, EUSSR and US establishment figures on the other hand…
If you needed more proof there is no concern for either side of this conflict from Western interests:
This after Russia has already destroyed the UK shipments of depleted uranium delivered to Ukraine out of necessity and the inherent effects this will have on the local land and population.
Just like the EUSSR preparing to implement an eleventh sanction package against Russia….because the first ten have been so successful 🙄, they will now send in more depleted uranium after the first lot was blown up?🤦🏼♂️
Bureaucrats struggle to grasp the possibility that their actions may have been misguided. In the face of failure, rather than carefully evaluating the outcome, they persist in their conviction that pursuing the same course must eventually yield success.
United States
Things are changing quickly:
Empirical collapse happens slowly, then all at once. The pace is picking up.
Olden Days
A simpler time…
