Regular readers will know that from the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine; I had no doubt Russia would prevail in its goals. That is to say, its actual goals, not those misattributed by Western talking heads. Ukraine has purposely been built up over the last decade as a blunt instrument for the West to goad Russia into acting. Except this time, the West wasn’t picking on a tiny, defenceless country like Libya, Serbia, Iraq, etc. Russia has the means, willpower and self-respect to say “no more” and stand up for itself.
One of the many consequences of the Ukraine crisis has been the dawning realisation that not just the use of air power, but all of the tried and traditional (if ineffective) methods of intervention favoured by the West don’t actually work against a powerful opponent who’s prepared to hit you back.
It seems this reality is finally dawning on leaders of the West. This awareness is also spreading to citizens of Western nations. Why? Because it is allowed to be.
Recently in Western media, we are seeing articles such as this one or this one that are openly questioning a Ukrainian victory, something that was strictly verboten until now:
Ukraine’s defence minister, Oleksii Reznikov, is now trying to damp down expectations. “It is definitely overheated – everyone wants another victory,” he says. “We didn’t believe in victory before. We used to want Ukraine to survive at least minimally.” His words are a critical reality check for those predicting the imminent collapse of Russian forces. We should all adopt such caution; not just to avoid disappointment, but also because it signals the need to plan for a sharp change of gear in our support for Kyiv.
Reality is that Ukraine has about as much chance of winning a war against Russia as Mexico would of winning a war with the United States
This is called conditioning. Western leaders know there is no chance of victory in Ukraine; there never was. They were trying to buy time while attempts were made to drive a political coup inside Russia, which could then be broken up, stripped of its influence, and pillaged of its resources.
This is something that anyone who understands Russia knows will never happen. Even had they managed to unseat Putin somehow, a stronger hardliner would have replaced him, NOT the US puppets like Navalny they delude themselves into thinking have any voice in domestic issues. The West fails to understand Putin is a moderate voice of reason, holding back the much more aggressive action others in the upper echelons of the Russian political sphere would take. Therein lays one of the significant problems the West has had for a few decades now; its ‘Russia experts’ long ago stopped understanding Russia itself and instead started believing their frozen narratives of what they believe Russia to be. Hell, they even still accidentally refer to Russia as the Soviet Union, which shows you how lost in time they are.
But now that defeat of Ukraine is imminent; Western leaders need to start shifting the narrative and conditioning the masses who have until now been told Ukraine is a mighty force that will destroy the Russian military and lead to the downfall of Putler, the complete disintegration of the Russian nation, Ukraine leading the EUSSR, dogs and cats living together and so on.
The time has come to ‘declare victory’ and slink away bruised and battered, though how they plan to do this with even a shred of dignity is beyond me. When something doesn’t work (war, sanctions, bank cut off, wealth seizure, trade embargo) their instinct is to keep doing more of it until it does work. This has clearly failed on an epic scale this time. Russia continues on, talking and doing business with 80% of the globe.
To that end, Western powers and their controlled media lapdogs are finally allowing glimpses of this reality to set in - an indication they know that time, weapons and money are running out for themselves and Ukraine. Conversely, Russian industry has no issue maintaining this rate of munitions production, has millions of willing and able men and is ready to continue the current situation for years. Why would they not be? Whether you agree they had the right to or not, citizens in the four Donbas regions voted overwhelmingly to join the Russian Federation. Most people in these regions have Russian heritage, and many have been subject to constant shelling by the Ukrainian military since 2014 - a reality conveniently overlooked by Western media since the launch of Russian action to remedy the situation in 2022.
These regions are now considered Russian territory and will be defended to the death. Still believing Russia will cede its sovereign land now is ignorant and delusional.
This has all been obvious and knowable during the entire time of this conflict for those that cared to look. Those that can look past what their national leaders spoon-feed them. The narratives generated by the West are just that, made-up stories to gain your tacit approval of your leader’s belligerent actions and perpetual spending; Russia is facing collapse, Putin is Hitler, Russians are killing civilians and raping women, Russia will use nukes, Russia wants to take over all of Europe.
Seriously, are you tired of being lied to yet?
All one has had to do this entire time is take a step back and, in an unbiased manner, look at the facts and (God forbid!) listen to what Russia actually says. This does not include reading a Western media’s interpretation of what it wants you to think Russia said. Cherry-picking one line from a two-hour Putin interview and spinning it out of context is apparently what passes for ‘journalism’ in the US, EUSSR, and the UK these days. While real journalists are locked up, de-platformed or fired. Sad.
Mission Accomplished
Regardless of how events have played out, reading this piece so far, some may be surprised to find out that the goals of the West have been more or less achieved. That is the real goals, not those espoused in front of microphones, such as the ‘sovereignty of Ukraine’ which was lost to the US many years ago:
The US has successfully cordoned off Russia from an all too eager-to-please Europe, playing to the strengths of centuries-old Russophobia. This alone fulfils the ideological goals of neocons in the US, even if it hasn’t gone far enough for them.
These European satellites are now more beholden to US dominance than ever, including buying more energy and goods.
Inside the EUSSR, the unelected
politburoEuropean Council has increased its dictate over its member states. The most Russophobic of all nations, the United Kingdom has acted on the most delirious fantasies of its aristocracy, sanctioning anything and everything Russia, to the detriment of its people it just told to ‘shut up and realise you’re poor.’
The increased mania of food shortages, crises, and energy problems enveloping the world due to idiotic government policy can all be blamed on Russia for at least the next few years and used as the reason why Climate
HoaxChange actions need to be ramped up faster.
All of this has been achieved for relatively little money from the US, which has strongarmed encouraged all European nations to hand over their weapons and money to the meat grinder in Ukraine. If we ignore the NATO military personnel retirees and mercenaries inside Ukraine that have been killed - as they want you to - it hasn’t even cost many Western lives.
While these achieved goals are grotesque for us to hear, realise this is what politicians always have and will always do when societies such as the US, Western Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand reach the point where they start to degrade due to high time preference, mounting debt and failing systems. Political pandering and socialism is the tool they always go for in the kit—bread and circus; welfare and distraction. Take a step back and look where all their ESG, climate and social equality agendas lead you—rules for thee and not for me.
Investment Implications
So now that we’ve established the political objectives of Western leaders is to continue the internal destruction of their nations under the guise of evil Russia, evil China, hostile Iran (etc.) boogeyman and saving the climate, what are the broader ramifications for us to look at when it comes to the safety of our investments?
The important question to ask yourself; how are you positioning? If you refused to conceive of a Russian victory before, you should seriously consider it now and plan what it will mean for your business or investments.
Do you own assets in Russia? Shares, property, business? Do you need to travel to Russia? Will your product manufactured in Germany be welcomed back into Russia upon the cessation of hostilities, or do you have fences to mend? Do you have holdings in Ukraine? What will it mean for them once the remaining portion of the country becomes a rump state and possibly land-locked? What if the remainder of Ukraine does indeed become neutral and not a little NATO statelet post conflict? Are your China investments safe once the US fully pivots to ‘freedom for Taiwan’?
Where are you looking to deploy capital in the new reality we are facing;
A world where the most powerful nations are receiving a complete walloping by their own actions.
In a world where developing countries are now finding their voice and standing up for their own needs and desires, and will not be told whom and whom not they may associate with and trade.
A world where the established leading nations are watching their economies and societies decline while developing nations’ societies are becoming more cohesive and reproachment between previous foes is frequently happening.
A world where high GDP nations are desperately scrambling to secure the energy, minerals and food they need from the countries that possess it; the developing nations - the Global South that has been looked down on for decades if not centuries.
A world where political instability, energy crises, food shortages, corruption, freedom of speech abolition and media suppression abounds, and being led by a geriatric out-of-touch leadership is no longer the realm of developing countries, but is the reality in the US, EUSSR, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
I know where I’m deploying my capital. In strong nations not losing their identity and facing collapse, as well as trends and businesses that will prosper from the decay in the West and the money that will continue fleeing from it. If you’re still under the spell of the political elites’ vandals in your country, it is high time to re-assess.
Allocation in the new era dawning and the realisation that the narrative fairytales you have been told for a long time are no longer true is more important now than ever. If you’re tired of being lied to, it’s time to take the blinkers off, see the emerging world we’re moving into for what it really is, and act accordingly.
Excellent well written article.
