Some interesting South Africa, India and Indonesia coal stocks have popped up and been talked about in emerging market fund commentaries I have written about. So not every fund/investor is into ESG ideology... Far more worrisome are the coming EU attempts to force ESG onto their Asian suppliers... https://emergingmarketskeptic.substack.com/p/emerging-markets-week-february-20-2023

The insanity that is the EU Politburo seems to know no bounds or have any notion of reality outside its little bubble. Its a fine line they already tread, going too far and the supply will be curtailed and what remains is re-directed to other markets. Ultimately they're just moving toward the deindustrialization of the continent and reverting its countries back to developing market status. Sad to watch. But socialists going to socialise.

I like Indonesia. Was holding United Tractor for a little while. Like Hermina as well, but quite pricey.

Corp Governance is always the issue with Indonesia's companies though... Although dated - read (if you have not yet done so) some of Joe Studwell's books, like "Asian Godfathers: Money and Power in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia" before investing in Indonesia though... Also Herald Van der Linde who wrote "Asia’s Stock Markets from the Ground Up" started his career and spent many years in Indonesia - the book is fairly recent and he has done some good podcast interviews...

Thanks for the recommendations. Asian Godfathers already on my list, but Van der Linde's I hadn't heard of.
